Knoxville, TN: The We R Indie & Indiegrrl International Music Conference returns to Knoxville, TN, Aug 18-20th, presenting three days of music industry related workshops, a vendor expo and panels offering professional instruction, all designed to enhance the careers of independent artists. Holiday Inn World's Fair Park and Convention Center will once again be the host hotel/location for this event and is offering special pricing... for attendees.

Along with live showcases featuring Indie artists from around the world, there will be a Battle of the Bands and a Songwriter Showdown Competition.
Local artists will be well represented as two of Knoxville's own, Hudson K and Dark Hollow Band, will be taking the stage during the Battle of The Bands. Plus Knoxville singer songwriter, Emily Shane, was chosen in the early qualifier round and will perform in the Songwriter Showdown. The general public can attend all showcases and competitions with a $5 per night, ticket purchase.

Keynote Speaker, Wayne Leeloy, Senior Director of Artist Relations at Topspin Media, will present to conference attendees on Friday at 1:30 PM. Leeloy, having launched Ticketmaster's Music Services team in Nashville, has worked directly on tours for many major artists, including; Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Casting Crowns, WinerJam, tobyMac and Derek Webb, to name a few. While employed by Seattle marketing firm, 206 Inc., he gained considerable knowledge and skills in sponsorship, brand management and event production. Calling on his experience as a 10 year veteran touring artist, Wayne Leeloy owned and operated artist development agency, 'Foundation Music Group', and managed Artist/Industry relationships for the Memphis and Shelby County Music Commission.

Panels and Workshops will address a variety of subjects, including:

*Music & Song Publishing (Instructor, Robyn Taylor-Drake, Trio Productions)
*An Open Forum Discussion On Perseverance – How to stay focus on and stay committed to your music career, sharing experiences, tips, and advice. Moderated by Jill Cagney.
*Music Theory - How To Write Charts For Your Songs (Instructor, Tisha Simeral, professional session musician)
*Your Creative Compass: How to Achieve Sustainable Creativity (Instructor, Kay Pere, Voice and Career Coach)
*The 8 Keys to Success in the Music Business (Instructor, Bill Pere, Author, The Songwriter's Coloring Book)
*DIY Radio Promotion – Effective Steps for an Independent Artist to Promote Your Music to Radio. (Instructor, Karen E. Reynolds, Artist/Writer, Radio Host and Program Director, Writer's Block)
*Wearing All The Hats – Survival Tips For The Do It Yourself Artist (Instructor, Brian Ashley Jones, NSAI Pros On The Road Clinician)
*How to Build a Tribe: Thriving in the New Music Industry (Panel presentation including, Christina Horn, Hudson K writer/artist, Relix Variety Theatre Talent buyer; Andy Jones, Promotions/Publisher, The Artists Box; Ryan Brown, Booking Agent, The Artists Box; Fred and Jonathan Kelly, Producer/Engineers, Famous London Recording Studio; and Carissa Stolting, Artist Management for AC Entertainment.
*Songwriting Critique Panel, offering professional critiques of presented songs. CD & 3 Lyric Sheets required. First come, first served due to time restraints. Panelists include: Karen E Reynolds, Robyn Taylor Drake and Bill Pere
*Get Involved-A 'Q&A' participation panel presented by We R Indie board members.

We R Indie and Indiegrrl are excited to offer these opportunities to area musicians and invite fans of the vibrant Knoxville music scene to attend the showcases and competitions, to cheer on, not only some of Knoxville's best, but artists and performers from around the world. All stages will be located within the Holiday Inn World's Fair Park Convention Center and there will be a cash bar available with special drink prices.

Full conference passes are still available for purchase allowing entrance into all related events, including the Thursday evening networking party, workshops, panels, expo, and stage areas. A few vendor spaces are also still available for businesses wishing to present their products or services to a desirable demographic via this unique marketing platform. Radio stations, music stores, product and service vendors from jewelry makers to chair massage to instrument makers can benefit from this visibility. Venues, get a boogth and book acts from around the world and advertise your upcoming schedule.
