A 24/7 sound whisperer

Sonya Heller ~ Singer, Songwriter, Composer

I write songs the way some people keep journals — to make sense of the world, to hold onto fleeting moments, and to speak the truths that don’t always fit into conversation. My music lives somewhere between avant-folk and jazz, but it’s really just a reflection of the stories I’ve lived and the ones I still dream about.

I grew up in New York City, surrounded by theater, poetry, and the hum of subway trains — all of it found its way into my voice. I’ve been called “a singing and songwriting Joan of Arc,” and while I don’t carry a sword, I do carry a guitar and a fierce belief in the power of vulnerability.

Every song I write is a conversation — with the past, with the listener, with the part of myself that still believes in magic. Whether I’m performing in a candlelit room or recording in a studio with collaborators from around the world, I’m always chasing that moment when music becomes connection.

If you’ve ever felt like you didn’t quite fit the mold, like your heart beat to a rhythm no one else could hear — you’ve come to the right place!
